The Major Pentatonic Scale is 2 notes removed from the Major Scale. We remove the 4th and 7th degrees. Which leaves us with the 1st, 2nd, 3rd,5th and 6th degrees. Because of the removal of these two notes it leaves us with a very "open" sounding scale. I say "open" because there is now a wide intervalic "gap" between the 3rd and 5th degrees and the 6th degree and the octave. Here are the five common fingerings.
